French Cuisine

I'm getting hammered on my Facebook page for having the audacity to note that I've thusfar found the food in Paris, um, lacking. Now, I've gone to all sorts of bistro's and restaurants, including several that were highly recommended. It's not that the food is crappy or anything. In fact, I've moderately enjoyed plenty of the dishes. And the bread (and red wine) is spectacular. But the meats are, in general, far too fatty for my liking, and the seasoning in general trends towards the flavorless. In three different restaurants, soups have tasted quite watered down. I suppose it's plausible that I've just had awful luck--and I'm certainly hoping my mind is changed in the next three days--but as of now, France lags far below New York and Italy on the taste-buds scale.
